The Turner Insurance Agency was started in 1962 by Robert Turner, father of Steve and Tom Turner. Steve Turner joined the business following graduation from Stetson University in 1973. Tom Turner joined the firm in 1975. Several other local insurance agencies were purchased and incorporated into the Turner Agency through the years, including the Little Insurance Agency in 1975, the Ranson Agency in 1979 and the Spink Agency in 1985. After nearly 40 years at the corner of Prairie and Lafayette, the business was moved to a new building at 1715 West Morton in January, 2000.

Tom and Steve Turner operated as partners for over 40 years with a Personal lines Division and a Commercial Lines Division to offer affordable coverages to our customers.

Steve moved his Commercial Division to the Dimond Brothers Insurance Agency in preparation for retirement. With that move he picked up a number of additional companies to offer his customers, as well as a competent Commercial Lines support staff. In 2019, he retired from the Commercial Lines insurance business.

Tom continues to operate the Personal Lines Division with Patty Snyder and Debbie Doerr continuing to service your personal insurance needs in the office.

In January 2026, Robert Turner Agency, Inc. became Turner & Wessler Bros. Agency, LLC. The Jacksonville location remains the same, and all staff have continued, with the addition of Trent Bruce. As part of Wessler Bros., the agency now joins four additional locations in Arenzville, Virginia, Beardstown, and Rushville, expanding access to more insurance carriers and positioning the agency for continued growth.
